Gateshead Council

Climate Project Management Framework

GenNorth was appointed to review Council policy, strategy and project management documentation to ensure alignment and to identify a methodology for the monitoring and management of all carbon related projects and initiatives across the authority to allow then to demonstrate progress being made against the Council’s climate and sustainability related commitments made since 2019 when the Council declared a climate emergency.

Recommendations were made on how to alter, refresh, and reschedules these deliverables to maximise outcomes and delivery with a focus on aligning governance and reporting. The work also considered the wider political landscape and probable demands for Gateshead to report against wider standards such as those requested by the new regional authority and publicly reported information.

The team also prepared an initial indicative assessment of the impact of the current actions and requirements for off-set to meet the pledges made in 2019.
